How to manually reset and rebuild the sync services database

If BusySync has stopped syncing with iCal and resetting sync history did not solve the problem, you may have to manually reset and rebuild your sync services database, as follows.

  1. Reset BusySync: Open the BusySync pref pane, click the Reset tab and click the Reset BusySync button. This will unpublish and unsubscribe all BusySync calendars, and delete your BusySync database. Then, delete the following file, if it exists:
    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/BusySync/BusySync.bsql
  2. Delete any orphaned calendars that were left behind after step 1. An orphaned calendar is a calendar you were subscribed to from another BusySync user on your LAN or from Google Calendar that is still showing up in iCal. Or a calendar that you were publishing from iCal to Google that is still showing up on Google. In other words, each calendar should only exist on the publisher, and not on the subscriber. If any orphaned calendars exist on the subscriber, you should manually delete them in iCal and/or Google.
  3. In iCal, select File > Back up iCal and save the file.
  4. Quit all running applications, then delete the following folders, if they exist:
    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/iCal
    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/iSync
    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
    /Users/username/Library/Calendars
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Double-click the Backup file you created in step 2 to restore iCal. It will take a few minutes for iCal and Sync Services to get in sync so let your computer run for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.
  7. Start BusySync and reconfigure your Publish and Subscribe options.

iPhone

If you are syncing with an iPhone via iTunes, you will have to reconfigure your iTunes sync options after resetting sync history, as follows:

  • Launch iTunes, dock your iPhone, and select your iPhone in the iTunes source list.
  • Click the Info tab.
  • Select the "Sync iCal calendars" checkbox
  • Select the "Calendars" checkbox under "Replace information on this iPhone".
  • Click Apply

MobileMe

If you're syncing with MobileMe, you may need to re-enable your MobileMe sync settings in System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync. In addition, it is recommended that you overwrite the calendar info on MobileMe with the contents of iCal on your desktop. To do so, click Advanced > Reset Sync Data > and click the right arrow to replace the info on MobileMe with the info from this computer.
